Some dreams remain just ideas. Others gradually become reality.
For me, Creamy Matcha is one of them. It's a fragrance in which I wanted to capture the atmosphere of a perfect day. From its energetic start all the way to a calm, warm close.
From an idea to a fragrance of my own
I've been into perfumes for several years now. In that time I've had the chance to get to know hundreds of different compositions, discover new brands and understand how diverse fragrances can be.
Over time, though, I felt a growing desire to create something of my own.
Not another perfume that simply follows the latest trends. I wanted to create a fragrance that would grow out of my own vision. Something personal, with its own meaning and its own story.
That's how the byRoman journey began.
And its first perfume was Creamy Matcha.
What does a perfect day smell like?
When I was thinking about the first fragrance, I didn't want to start with a list of ingredients. First, I asked myself a simple question.
What would my perfect day look like?
I pictured a morning when I'm in no hurry to get anywhere, yet I have a whole day full of possibilities ahead of me. Fresh air, the first rays of sunshine and the pleasant energy of a new beginning.
Then the afternoon, when everything slows down a little. A moment for myself, a favorite drink and the feeling that right now I don't have to deal with anything else.
And finally, the evening. Calm, comfort and the warm atmosphere of home.
Three different moments that together make one whole.
That's exactly how I wanted Creamy Matcha to work, too.
Three phases of one story
The fragrance opens with red mandarin and lemongrass.
The fresh citrus notes give the composition energy, while cardamom adds a subtle spicy contrast. For me, this opening is the morning. Fresh, optimistic and full of anticipation.
Gradually, though, the mood changes.
Matcha, milky notes and chai latte step forward. This is where the creamy heart takes shape, the part that gave the perfume its character.
I didn't want the matcha to be just another green note in the composition. It was meant to feel soft and natural, and at the same time create a sense of calm. Like a moment we set aside for ourselves.
At the close come cedar, sandalwood, vanilla and tonka.
Warm, gently sweet and woody notes bring the whole story to an end. Just the way a lovely day ends, when we don't have to go anywhere anymore and can simply enjoy the present moment.
Turning an idea into reality
It's one thing to know how a fragrance should feel. It's another to turn that idea into a real perfume.
To create Creamy Matcha, I worked with perfumer Václav Lebeda, the man behind the Bergamoss brand.
My job was to convey to him the vision, atmosphere and emotions I wanted to capture in the fragrance. His job was to shape them into a perfume composition.
What fascinated me about this process was how individual ingredients could gradually create something that, at the start, existed only in my head.
So Creamy Matcha isn't just a matcha tea fragrance. It's the result of trying to capture a specific feeling and bring it into everyday life.
More than just a first perfume
Creamy Matcha has a special meaning for me.
It's the first step on a journey I once only thought about. It reminds me that even an idea that seems far away at first can gradually become reality.
And at the same time, it stands for what the whole byRoman brand is meant to be about.
About ideas that have their own scent. About emotions we can hold on to. About ordinary moments that, over time, can turn into our most beautiful memories.
I don't want Creamy Matcha to be just a perfume on a shelf.
I'd be glad if it became part of someone's everyday life. If someone connected it with a happy time, a trip, a meeting or just a quiet morning.
Because that's when this whole story takes on a new meaning.
Creamy Matcha was born from my idea of a perfect day. Maybe one day it will become part of yours.
